MRA announces its expansion into the Victorian market with the appointment of David Cocks as Victorian Manager. David joins MRA from Sustainability Victoria (SV) where he managed SV’s Waste and Resource Recovery Infrastructure Team.

David brings to MRA a detailed understanding of Victoria’s waste policy and infrastructure landscape. Given the expansion of processing facilities already underway and in development, David’s experience, developing and evaluating business cases for the State government will be very relevant going forward.

Before joining SV, David held the position of Executive Officer with North East Victorian Regional Waste Management Group. In the role David developed a practical understanding of local and regional government planning and infrastructure challenges. Joining the MRA team, David is well placed to help support the rapidly evolving needs of the Victorian waste and recycling market.

When asked about joining MRA, David said “MRA has a strong network of clients in Victoria I look forward to supporting. The growth of MRA is a testament to the team’s understanding of their clients’ needs and the current policy landscape. I am really looking forward to joining the team and continuing MRA’s growth in Victoria.”

Mike Ritchie, Director of MRA said, “MRA is delighted that David has joined the team. We can now offer a day to day local presence to our Victorian and Tasmanian clients. David has exceptional skills in waste policy, planning and infrastructure. He will bring real benefits to MRA’s clients.”

MRA now has an established and very experienced team of waste experts including a past national President of WMAA, a Vice President, Chair of the NSW branch of WMAA and chairs of various working groups including AWT and Carbon. They consult in the areas of strategy, planning, policy, engineering, economics, education and auditing.

Ritchie said “It is a great time to be in the waste/recycling sector. New policy settings are emerging all over Australia, including in Energy from waste, Container Deposits, Product Stewardship, levies and grants, infrastructure planning, and strategies at the State and local level. There is change everywhere you look.”

MRA Consulting is Australia’s best small consultancy in recycling, waste and carbon (Inside Waste 2013, 2014 and 2015). MRA provides services to large and small business and all levels of government. The MRA team includes engineers, planners, economists, lawyers and scientists.
