Phase 2 of WLRM extends NSW Government’s funding initiative to 2021

wlrm-extensionLate last week, Mark Speakman the NSW Minister for the Environment announced the extension of the Waste Less Recycle More (WLRM) initiative to 2021.

This second round of funding is the continuation of phase one of the WLRM that begun in July 2013 and will conclude in June 2017. As of July 2016 the waste levy-funded WLRM initiative has awarded $292.3 million to 822 projects, aiming to process 2,230,167 tonnes more waste and create 845 jobs. Phase 1 of WLRM is still underway with the EPA having just announced the final round of the Weighbridge Fund.

Phase 2 of WLRM is scheduled to commence in 1 July 2017 and award $337 million over 4 years. Funding priorities have been outlined by the EPA as follows:
