NSW WLRM Resource Recovery Facility Expansion and Enhancement (RRFEE) grants

The NSW EPA has released its third round of Resource Recovery Facility Expansion and Enhancement (RRFEE) grants under the $337 million NSW Government Waste Less Recycle More initiative (WLRM).

The NSW EPA has released its third round of Resource Recovery Facility Expansion and Enhancement (RRFEE) grants under the $337 million NSW Government Waste Less Recycle More initiative (WLRM).

EPA logo 2017The new grants, open to councils, not-for-profits, NGOs, groups of councils and the private sector, offer funding to deliver improvements to existing licensed recycling facilities in levy-paying areas of NSW, with the aim of increasing diversion from landfill. The new grant funding is summarised below:

Priorities
Recovery of recyclables from sorted/unsorted waste from business and households, reuse, recycling and reprocessing of recyclable materials*, processing and stabilisation of residual business, industry and household waste. C&D Facilities are strongly encouraged to apply

What will be funded?
Construction of facilities, sheds, buildings, civil, planning approvals, variations to EPL

What will not be funded?
Facilities for food/garden organics, land acquisition, venture capital, operational expenses, works already completed or commenced, new facilities that do not divert additional waste from landfill

$100,000 to $1,000,000, 50% of capital costs

Special consideration
Certain councils in regional/rural areas of NSW may be eligible for special consideration, qualifying them for funding of up to 75% of capital costs

*Including paper, glass, metals, tyres, rubber, wood/timber including engineered timbers, copper chrome arsenate (CCA) treated timber and other treated timbers, plastics, cardboard and consumer packaging, e-waste, plasterboard and other C&D wastes (excluding asbestos and contaminated waste).
