MRA helps secure more than half of the grant funding awarded for resource recovery facility upgrades

MRA has been successful in assisting clients win over 50% of the grant funding available under the NSW EPA Waste Less Recycle More grants program for Resource Recovery Facility Expansion and Enhancement. Of the eight successful grant funding applications, MRA prepared four of the submissions and secured more than $2m in funding from the $3.7m awarded.

EPA logo 2017MRA has been successful in assisting clients win over 50% of the grant funding available under the NSW EPA Waste Less Recycle More grants program for Resource Recovery Facility Expansion and Enhancement.

Of the eight successful grant funding applications, MRA prepared four of the submissions and secured more than $2m in funding from the $3.7m awarded. Congratulations to all of the successful applicants, and specifically to:


Albury City Council
Funding of $445,840 to establish timber and mattress recycling operations at the highly regarded Albury Waste Management Centre. This will further assist Albury in reducing waste to landfill. Albury has already reduced halved amount the waste going to landfill since 2010.


Lismore City Council
Funding of $350,000 to upgrade its MRF to recover Polypropylene (PP) through new optical sorting machines. The PP will be recovered in addition to the HDPE and PET already recovered.


SUEZ
$260,000 to scale up the recovery of plastics at the SUEZ Spring Farm Resource Recovery Facility, recovering an additional 500 tonnes per year of HDPE and mixed plastics from the south-western suburbs of Sydney.


Weston Aluminium
$1,000,000 to expand its current scrap aluminium processing facility, currently recovering aluminium from processing dross, spent pot liner and scrap aluminium, to also incinerate medical and hazardous waste. The facility will divert over 90% of this waste from landfill.
